Welcome to MRTG - The Tool for Monitoring Network Traffic

Multi Router Traffic Grapher (MRTG) is a tool to monitor the traffic load on network links. MRTG generates HTML pages containing PNG images which provide a LIVE visual representation of this traffic. - Works on most UNIX platforms and Windows NT.
-  Is written in Perl and comes with full source.



MRTG Uses a highly portable SNMP implementation written entirely in Perl (thanks to Simon Leinen). There is no need to install any external SNMP package.

Kick off MRTG Project

To get MRTG to work on Windows, you need the follow:
- Download MRTG from here
- Download Perl from here

First

- You need unzip MRTG to C:\\mrtg on the Windows machine of your choice (This Tut is on Window 7)
- Create new folder www contains MRTG traffic files on C:\\www
- Setup Perl


Next

- Enable SNMP services: start -> control panel -> Program and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off -> checked Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) -> Ok for confirm

From control panel -> choose category -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> Services

Fine SNMP Services -> double click from this and click Traps, Security tab
- Traps tab: Set your Community Name && Trap destinations
- Security tab: choose Accept SNMP Packets from these hosts

Now we had finished config SNMP services in MRTG projects, next we must make the mrtg run it, please follow my instructions
- Open command: start -> cmd
- Go to your bin on mrtg folder:  cd c:\mrtg\bin
- Type this command for config traffic file is setup on this folder www
perl cfgmaker public_vilh@localhost --global "WorkDir: C:\www" --output server.cfg

- You will see the list running on command screen
- Next: type this command for update MRTG log
- On c:\mrtg\bin folder -> type
perp mrtg server.cfg

- Go to www folder and you will see this files

- If you want to see your traffic run, you must update your log files and you will see :)
