Working flow of payment by Apple Pay

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog channel!

Apple Pay has become quite popular due to its convenience. However, there's a comprehensive process behind its seamless operation. Today, I'm excited to walk you through the workflow of Apple Pay. Let's dive into the details

Here is the working flow

Step 1:
Hold Your Device: When you want to make a payment, hold your iPhone or Apple Watch close to the Point of Sale (POS) machine. The Secure Element (SE) chip inside your device generates a Dynamic Cryptogram, which is like an encrypted transaction code.

This cryptogram, along with your Device Account Number (DAN), is transferred to the POS using Near Field Communication (NFC)

Step 2:
The POS machine sends a payment request to the Acquirer Bank (the bank of the receiver you’re paying).

Step 3:
The Acquirer Bank forwards the request to the Card Network (like Mastercard or Visa).

Step 4:
The Card Network sends your DAN number and necessary security data to the Token Service Provider (TSP).

Step 5:
The TSP resolves your DAN number and retrieves the original card number (PAN) associated with it.

Step 6:
The Card Network sends the payment request, along with the original card information, to the Issuer Bank (your bank).

Step 7:
The Issuer Bank checks if you have sufficient funds for the transaction and returns the result to the Card Network.

Step 8:
The Card Network forwards the payment result to the Acquirer Bank.

Step 9:
Finally, the Acquirer Bank informs the POS machine, and you see either “Payment Successful” or “Payment Failed” on the POS screen.
